How to set your daily budget

Set the most your letters can cost in a day, roll unused budget over, and give each campaign its own share.

Your daily budget is the most your letters can cost in a day, across all your campaigns. We never charge more than that in one day. Letters over the budget aren't lost: they wait for the next sending day.

Change your daily budget

  1. Click Letter campaigns in the sidebar, then Budget management in the menu on the left.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Type your new Daily budget.

  4. Click Save.

Roll unused budget over

With roll-over on, any budget you don't use one day carries forward, so you can send more letters later in the week. It builds up until Sunday at midnight, then starts again.

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Turn on Roll-over.

  3. Click Save.

Changing your budget while roll-over is on asks you to confirm, because it starts the week's roll-over again from today. The roll-over is budget you were never charged for, so nothing's lost.

Give each campaign its own share

By default your campaigns share the daily budget freely. To control how much each can spend:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Turn on Set limits. The budget is split evenly to start with.

  3. Type each campaign's Daily allocation. For example, more for extensions and less for lofts.

  4. To share it out equally again, click Reset to even split.

  5. Click Save.

Any budget you don't give to a campaign isn't spent. Unallocated shows how much that is.

Which letters go first when the budget runs out?

Each day, letters are sent until the budget is used up, and the rest are held back for the next sending day. Follow-up letters go before first letters, and newer letters before older ones. To send a held-back letter today anyway, force send it from Sending today. See "How to manage today's letters".

Letters that are still held back after the campaign's Cancel unsent letters after time are cancelled.

Why can't I save my budget?

  • The message says your campaigns' daily allocations add up to more than the daily budget. Lower the campaigns' shares, or raise the daily budget.

  • If you lower the budget below what the campaigns have between them, you're asked whether to Keep current ratios, scaled down or Reset allocations to an even split.

Why is Set limits greyed out?

Set a daily budget first. You can't share out a budget of nothing.

Why did a campaign's share disappear?

Pausing or archiving a campaign clears its share, and resuming it doesn't put it back. Give it a share again here.

Does the budget apply if I post letters myself?

No. If you download and post letters yourself, every letter due is ready to download, and no budget is applied.
