Already have a letter designed? Upload it as a PDF and Buildscout adds each homeowner's details to it, so you can send it in your campaigns.
Before you upload
The file must be a PDF under 10MB.
It needs 3mm of bleed on every side, for printing. Ask your designer for a version with bleed if you're not sure.
A4 letters and A5 postcards both work. Buildscout works out which it is from the page size.
Upload it
Click Letter campaigns in the sidebar, then Letter templates.
Click New template.
Click Upload a PDF and choose your file.
The PDF opens in the editor. The address box is added for you, where the envelope window will be.
Add the homeowner's name
Drag a text box onto the letter from the toolbar on the left of the editor.
Type your greeting, such as "Dear".
With your cursor after it, click Homeowner's name under Merge tags on the left. It's filled in for each letter.
You can add other details the same way, like What they've applied for or Site address.
Save it
Click the name at the top and give the letter a name.
Click Save letter.
It's ready for your campaigns.
Why did it say "This PDF has no bleed"?
Your PDF is the standard page size or smaller, so it has no bleed margin. Anything printed right to the edge of the page could be trimmed off when it's cut. Click Continue to use it anyway, or Cancel and ask your designer for a version with 3mm of bleed on every side.
In Australia, letters are printed at their own size with no bleed, so Buildscout doesn't ask about it there.
Why won't my PDF upload?
Please select a PDF file.: the file isn't a PDF. Save or export it as a PDF first.
PDF must be under 10MB.: the file is too big. Ask your designer for a smaller export.
Couldn't read that PDF: the file couldn't be opened. Try exporting it again.
