A subcontractor on a project can be booked on its schedule, given tasks, and see the chat and the photos and documents you share with them. Each project has its own list of subcontractors.
Anyone on your team can add subcontractors to a project.
Open a project's subcontractors
Click Projects in the sidebar and open the project.
Click Subcontractors in the project's menu.
The page lists everyone on the job, with their trade, email and phone, and how far their invite has got.
Pick someone you've worked with before
Click Add subcontractor.
Under Someone you've worked with before, tick everyone you want on this job. Search by name, trade or email if the list is long.
Click Add to project.
They're added and invited straight away.
Invite someone new
Click Add subcontractor.
Click Add someone new. If you've never added anyone, the form opens straight away.
Fill in their Full name and Trade. Click one of the trades under the field to fill it in.
Give an Email address or a Mobile number. Either works. With no email, the invite goes to their mobile on WhatsApp.
Click Add subcontractor.
Send everyone the project's link
The quickest way on is the bar at the top of the page, Send subcontractors a link. Whoever opens the link adds their own details and goes straight into the project.
Click Copy link and paste it wherever you like.
Click Send on WhatsApp to send it with a message ready to go.
The same link is at the top of the Add subcontractor window.
Switch the link off, or make a new one
Click the Link options menu (…) beside the link:
Switch the link off stops anyone new joining with it. Click Switch it on or Switch the link back on when you need it again.
Create a new link if the link has been passed around too far. The old one stops working at once.
What a subcontractor's card says
Joined: they've accepted and are on the project.
Invited by email on …, or by WhatsApp or text, · not joined yet: the invite has gone, but they haven't accepted it.
Invite not sent yet: click Send invite to send it.
Text invites aren't available yet: nothing was sent to their mobile. Add an email address to invite them.
Take someone off a project
Click Remove on their card.
Click Remove again to confirm.
They stay in your subcontractors list, so you can add them to this or any other project later.
Why can't I add this person?
… is already a member of your team, so they can't be added as a subcontractor. Someone on your team already has the project in their own workspace.
… is already on this project. They're on the list already.
Why can't I add anyone to this project?
A project marked complete takes nobody new. Its Subcontractors page has no Add subcontractor button and no link, and nobody can be invited or removed until the project is reopened.
Why can't my subcontractor join with the link?
If the link has been switched off or replaced with a new one, it opens a page saying This link doesn't work any more. Switch it back on, or send them the new link.
