How to choose your notifications

Choose what Buildscout tells you about and how, and find every notification you've had.

Buildscout tells you when something needs you, like a lead assigned to you or a comment that mentions you. You choose which of these you hear about, and how. Your choices are yours, across every team you're in.

Choose what you hear about

  1. Click your initial at the top right, choose Settings, then click Notifications under Personal.

  2. Each row is something we can tell you about, grouped into sections such as Leads, Projects and Billing.

  3. Each column is a way of telling you: In-app, Email, Text, and App for the Buildscout app on your phone.

  4. Switch off what you don't need. It saves straight away.

Text messages go by WhatsApp where possible, otherwise SMS. The App column shows once you're signed in to the Buildscout app on a phone, and goes to every phone you're signed in on.

See your notifications

  1. Click the bell at the top of the page. Your newest notifications show, with unread ones marked.

  2. Click one to open what it's about.

  3. Click See all notifications for the whole list, from every team you're in.

On the Notifications page, pick Unread to see only what you haven't read, and click Mark all as read when you're caught up. Load older goes further back.

Why can't I turn on text messages?

You need a mobile number on your profile first. Add it under Settings → Profile, in Mobile number, and the Text switches come on.

Why can't I switch some notifications off?

The In-app switches can't be changed, so your notifications always reach the bell, whatever you choose for email, text and the app. Hover over a greyed-out switch to see why it can't be changed.

Why didn't I get an email for something I saw in the app?

Most emails wait about five minutes, and aren't sent if you've already read the notification in the app by then. A few that can't wait, such as a failed payment, go straight away.

Why is there a dash instead of a switch?

That notification doesn't come that way. For example, not every notification is sent by text.

I'm not on a team. Where are my notification settings?

If you only work on other builders' projects, or have no team open, the menu under your initial opens your account settings instead, with the same Notifications page.
