How to connect your calendar

Get your Buildscout bookings into Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar, and add the days you can't be booked.

Connect the calendar you already use, and every booking you're given in Buildscout lands in it as it's made, and moves when it changes. Builders then see when you're busy, but never what you're doing. Your calendar settings are yours, across every team and every builder you work for.

Connect a calendar

  1. Click your initial at the top right, choose Settings, then click Calendar under Personal.

  2. Under Connect your calendar, click Connect Google, Connect Microsoft or Connect Apple.

  3. For Google or Microsoft, sign in and allow Buildscout access to your calendar.

Your bookings show up in a calendar called Buildscout within a minute or two. Keep more than one calendar? Connect the others too.

Once connected, you can choose whether to Put my bookings in this calendar, and whether to Count all-day events as busy and Count tentative events as busy. Read now checks your calendar straight away, and Disconnect stops Buildscout reading it.

Connect Apple Calendar

Apple needs an app-specific password, not your Apple password.

  1. Make one at appleid.apple.com, under Sign-In and Security › App-Specific Passwords.

  2. In Buildscout, click Connect Apple.

  3. Type your Apple ID and paste the App-specific password.

  4. Click Connect.

Add time off

Booked up some days? Add the days you can't be booked, like a holiday or every other Friday.

  1. Under Time off, click Add time off.

  2. Pick the Days. For one day, pick just the first.

  3. Under Repeat, choose Doesn't repeat, Every week or Every other week. For a repeat, you can add an end under Until (optional).

  4. Add a Reason (optional) if you like, and turn on Let builders see the reason if you want them to see it.

  5. Click Add time off.

Builders see you're busy on those days.

Subscribe with a link instead

Rather not connect a calendar? Under Or subscribe with a link:

  • Click Copy to copy the Subscription link, or

  • Click Add to Google Calendar, Add to Apple Calendar or Add to Outlook.

It updates more slowly than a connected calendar: Apple refreshes every 15 minutes to an hour, Outlook about every 3 hours, and Google up to a day. Same-day changes always reach you as a notification.

Why should I keep the link private?

Anyone with the subscription link can see your bookings. If it's been shared with someone it shouldn't have been, click Reset link: calendars using the old link stop getting your bookings until you add the new one.

Why does it say "Needs reconnecting"?

Buildscout couldn't read that calendar any more. Hover over Needs reconnecting to see why, then click Reconnect and sign in again.

Why didn't my calendar connect?

  • "You didn't give Buildscout access to your calendar, so it isn't connected." You said no on Google's or Microsoft's screen. Try again and allow access.

  • "That took too long, or finished in a different browser." Start again, in the same browser.

  • "You were signed out part-way through." Sign in to Buildscout and try again.
