The last step of setting up a campaign is Review campaign. It shows what to expect, lets you check every part of the setup, and starts the campaign.
Check what to expect
Under What to expect, Leads matched in the last 90 days shows how many leads the campaign would have found in that time, so you know roughly how many to expect every 90 days.
If you switched on Also write to leads from the last 90 days, it tells you what happens to them when you start: they go to Review leads, or, if the campaign sends automatically, their letters are scheduled straight away.
Check your setup
Under Check your setup you'll see the campaign's Name, Search area, Targeting and Letters. Click Edit beside any of them to go back and change it.
Choose how your letters go out
The first time your team starts a campaign, you choose this once under How your letters go out. You can change it later: click Settings in the sidebar, then Setup.
We post them for you: we print and post each letter, paid from your letter credit.
Download and post them yourself: each day's letters are ready as PDFs under Download today, to print and post. No letter credit is used.
If you choose We post them for you:
Set your Daily budget: the most you'll spend on letters in a day, across all your campaigns. Letters over it wait for the next day.
Under When your letter credit runs low, choose Top up automatically or I'll top up myself. With automatic top-ups, pick how much to add each time under Top up by.
Only your team's billing members choose how credit is topped up. Anyone else is told to ask them.
Start the campaign
Click Start campaign. It starts looking for leads straight away, and then every day. Its leads appear in Review leads, or get their letters, depending on what you chose under Before letters go out.
Why is Start campaign greyed out?
The message beside the button says what's missing:
Finish the steps before this one first.: usually the campaign has no letters yet.
Choose how your letters go out.
Set a daily budget.
Choose how your letter credit is topped up.
Top up by at least £30.
Why did my campaign not start?
You'll see Couldn't start the campaign and the reason:
Add a letter before you start this campaign.
A letter is still being designed, or couldn't be designed. Wait for it, or try it again or choose another letter.
You need an active subscription to start a campaign: letter campaigns need a plan that includes them.
Your plan includes N active campaigns at a time.: pause or archive another campaign first, or change your plan.
This campaign targets about N leads a year. Your plan covers M leads a year across your running campaigns., or With your other running campaigns, your campaigns target about N leads a year.: the campaign finds more leads than your plan has room for. Click Edit targeting to narrow its targeting, Reduce search area to make its area smaller, pause another campaign, or click Upgrade to add more leads a year to your plan.
Why is "We post them for you" or "Download and post them yourself" greyed out?
It says Not included in your plan. Your plan only includes the other way of sending.
Do I need letter credit to start?
No. You can start a campaign with no credit. But with We post them for you, letters don't go out while you're out of credit, so top up or switch on automatic top-ups. See "How to top up letter credit".
