A walkthrough is a video of the site, recorded with the Buildscout mobile app. You walk the job, say what you see and what needs doing, and take photos as you go. Buildscout transcribes the video, turns what you said into tasks on the project, and describes the photos so they're easy to find. On the web you watch them back and check what was done.
Record a walkthrough
Walkthroughs are recorded in the Buildscout app, not on the web. Open the app, pick the job and record up to ten minutes. To get the app, open a project, click Walkthroughs in its menu and click How walkthroughs work: it has the app store links and, on a computer, a QR code to scan with your phone.
See a project's walkthroughs
Open the project.
Click Walkthroughs in its menu, under Files.
Each walkthrough shows when it was recorded, who recorded it, how long it is, a short summary, and how many tasks and photos it has. Its label says where it's up to:
Uploading: the video is still coming from the phone.
Processing: Buildscout is transcribing the video and working out the tasks.
Needs review: it has changes waiting for you to confirm.
Ready: it's done.
Couldn't process: something went wrong. Open it to see why.
Watch one back
Click a walkthrough to open it. You'll see:
The video, with a mark on its timeline for each photo. Click a mark to jump there.
The Transcript beside it, following the video. Click a line to jump to when it was said.
Tasks from this walkthrough: the tasks it added to the project. Open, change or tick them off here, or delete any you don't want.
Waiting for you to confirm: changes the assistant wouldn't make on its own. Click Confirm or Reject.
Photos: the photos taken, each with its description. Click one to see it large.
What the assistant did: every other change it made, such as tasks marked done or photos described. Click Undo on anything that isn't right.
Who sees walkthroughs?
Everyone on your team sees every walkthrough on a project. Subcontractors can record them too: they see only their own, and the tasks they describe go straight onto the project. Only your team can confirm, reject or undo what a walkthrough did.
Why does it say I've used this month's AI walkthroughs?
Each plan includes a number of AI walkthroughs a month. Once they're used, new ones wait until the next month starts, unless your team allows extras. If you manage your team's billing, the Walkthroughs page shows how many you've used this month, with Add more to add more a month.
Why can't I see any walkthroughs?
Nobody has recorded one on this project yet. A complete project takes no new walkthroughs until it's reopened.
