If you keep your jobs in a spreadsheet, you can bring them all into Buildscout in one go. Each row becomes a project.
Get your spreadsheet ready
Save the spreadsheet as a CSV file, with a row for each job. The first row must be the column headings. You need a column for each job's title. A column describing the job is optional.
Import the file
Click Projects in the sidebar.
Click Import CSV at the top right.
Click Click to upload, or drag the file into the box.
Under Title, pick the column that holds each job's title.
Under Description (optional), pick the column that describes it, if you have one.
Click Import.
The import runs in the background. A banner on the Projects page shows Importing projects… and how many rows have been processed. Projects appear in the list as they're made, and anyone on your team who opens Projects sees the same banner.
When it's done, the banner says Import finished with how many projects were created, and how many were skipped, trimmed or failed. Close it with the cross.
Imported projects are named after their title, with no address. Add an address on a project's overview to see its planning history.
Why was a row skipped?
The title was empty. A row needs a title to become a project.
Your plan was full. Imports count towards your plan's active projects. Once you reach the limit, that row and every one after it is skipped, and not imported.
Why was a description trimmed?
A description longer than a project allows is cut down to fit, and the row is counted as trimmed. The project is still created.
Why won't my file import?
File has too many rows (max 5,000). Split the spreadsheet into smaller files.
File is too large (max 5MB).
The file has no data rows to import. The file only has a heading row.
An import is already in progress for your team. Wait for the one that's running to finish.
The uploaded file could not be read. Please try again.
The Import button stays greyed out until you've picked a column for Title.
If the banner says Import failed, it gives the reason underneath.
