You can change any letter yourself in the letter editor: the words, the pictures, the QR code and the pages. Merge tags fill in each homeowner's details for you, so one letter works for every lead.
Open the letter
Click Letter campaigns in the sidebar, then Letter templates.
Click the letter.
If live campaigns send this letter, a bar across the top says Used by and names them. They carry on sending it as it is until you save or publish your changes.
Change the words
If the letter opens as a preview, click Edit above it. (Click Preview to see it as it'll be printed again.)
Double-click any text and type.
Add a merge tag
Merge tags are on the left, under Merge tags. Each fills in a detail for every homeowner when the letter is sent, like Homeowner's name, What they've applied for or Site address. Each one shows an example of what it fills in.
Click into the letter's text where the detail should go.
Click the merge tag, or drag it into the text.
A tag the letter already uses has a green tick. Under Homeowner's name, If it's missing is the word used when we don't know their name, such as "Homeowner".
Change the QR code
Click the QR code on the letter.
Click Delete field in the panel on the right.
Drag a new QR code onto the letter from the toolbar on the left of the editor.
Type the web page it should open.
Line things up
Alignment guides help you line things up. Click Guides on at the top to turn them off and see the letter clean, and Guides off to bring them back.
Add or take out pages
Click Pages at the top:
Add blank page adds a page at the end.
Add page from PDF adds the pages of a PDF file.
Remove current page takes out the page you're on.
The price of each letter is shown at the bottom and keeps up as you add pages: each page after the first costs extra.
Save or publish your changes
For a letter you made by hand, click Save letter.
For a letter the AI designed that no campaign sends yet, there's nothing to save: changes save as you go. Click Done.
For a letter a live campaign sends, click Publish changes, then confirm.
The campaigns send the new version from then on. Letters already sent don't change.
Why can't I delete the address box?
The address box is where each homeowner's address is printed, so it shows through the envelope window. It's always kept in place, so it has no delete button.
Why does a merge tag show a warning?
The panel warns you when something in the letter looks like a merge tag but isn't one:
isn't a merge tag, so it would be printed as typed: the name between the double braces isn't one of ours. Use one from the list instead.
needs double braces: a tag has one brace on each side instead of two.
If a letter is saved with broken merge tags, you're told it has malformed variables, and letters from it can't be sent until they're fixed.
Why does it ask before I save?
The letter is sent by live campaigns, so saving changes what they send from now on. You're asked to confirm before it happens.
Why does closing ask if I'm sure?
You've made changes to a letter you're editing by hand and haven't saved them. Closing now loses them. AI-designed letters save as you go, so they don't ask.
