When you win a lead, you can turn its planning application into a project without typing anything twice. The project takes the application's address and proposal, and can bring in the council's drawings and photos.
Create the project
Open the lead. You'll find it under Saved leads in the sidebar, or in Planning data once you've saved it.
Click Create project.
If your team already has an open project at the same address, Buildscout asks first: There's already a project at this address.
Click Add to this project beside the project it belongs to. The application and its documents are added to that project, and it opens.
Or click Create a new project anyway if this is a separate job.
In Create project, the Project address is taken from the planning application. The description starts as the application's proposal, and you can change it.
Add an Estimated value (optional), and dates if you know them.
Leave Bring in the application's documents and photos ticked to bring in the council's files. Untick it if you don't want them.
Click Create.
You're taken to the new project. The council's drawings and photos arrive in its Documents and Photos shortly afterwards, read and labelled like any other file.
You can also create a project when you drop a lead into Won on the lead board. See How to use the lead board.
Open the project from the lead
Once a lead has a project, its Create project button becomes Open project. Click it to go straight to the job.
Why doesn't the project have the application's address?
If Buildscout can't read a usable address from the planning application, it asks for a Project name instead, starting with the address as the council wrote it. If the application can't be found at all, the project is made on its own, without the application linked.
Why didn't it offer the project I already have?
Only open projects at the same address are offered. A complete project takes nothing new until it's reopened, so it isn't listed.
Why can't I create the project?
Your plan includes a set number of active projects at a time, and you've reached it. See How to forecast, complete and archive projects for how to free up room, or ask whoever manages your billing to add more.
