How to find planning agents and company owners

Search by the architects, agents, developers and landlords behind applications, and see who's behind each one.

Good work often comes through the same architects and landlords. Planning data can search by who's behind an application: the planning agent who submitted it, or the company that owns the site.

Searching by agent or company owner, and seeing them on an application, comes with Enterprise.

Search by planning agent

  1. Click Planning data in the sidebar.

  2. If the page opens on What work are you after? with a box to write in, click I'll pick them myself to see the filters.

  3. In the filters, scroll down to Who's behind it and click Planning agents.

  4. Type the name of an architect, agent or practice, and pick it.

The results show every application they've submitted in your search area and dates. Add as many names as you like. To add a long list at once, click Import agents from a CSV and choose the column with the names.

Search by company owner

  1. Under Who's behind it, click Company owners.

  2. Type the name of a developer's or landlord's company, and pick it.

To add many at once, click Import companies from a CSV. Importing replaces the names already in the card.

To take a name off, click its cross in the card, or hover over Filters at the top of the panel and click the cross beside it.

See who's behind an application

Open an application and look at People. It lists:

  • the applicant and their agent, with their addresses

  • under Companies and their owners, the company that owns the site, from Companies House. Click the number of owners beside a company, such as 2 owners, to see the people or companies that own or control it. With only one company, its owners are already open.

In the table of results, Applicant and agent shows the applicant, with the agent under them.

Why the agent or owner is blurred

Architects and company owners are on Enterprise. On another plan, Buildscout shows where they are on the application, blurred, with Upgrade to unlock. Click it to ask our team about Enterprise. The real names and addresses aren't sent to your browser until your plan has them.

On those plans, the Planning agents and Company owners cards say they come with Enterprise, and searching by them is switched off.

Why an application has no agent or owner

  • No agent: the planning data doesn't name an agent for that application.

  • No company: the planning data doesn't link a company from Companies House to the application. Companies and their owners are UK only.

  • Name not published: the council published the person without a name.

  • Not an address we can post to: Buildscout couldn't match the address to a postal address.

Why "Do not contact" shows beside someone

Someone on your team has marked that address as do not contact. Your team's campaigns won't send letters to anyone there, on any of your leads.
